Orunmila, African God of Wisdom and Divination

Orunmila is the African god of wisdom, knowledge, and divination. Orunmila is the master of Ifa, a complex, sacred system of divination. He also taught people cowrie shell divination. He is considered among the most powerful orishas. He was the only Orisha permitted to witness creation. As a powerful healer, he is known for his vast knowledge of herbs and roots.

This yellow and green candle is embedded with green aventurine crystals, citrine, and an African palm nut. Yellow and green are colors associated with Orunmila. Green Aventurine stones (embedded in the yellow half of the candle) heal the heart, enabling well-being and the emotional calm to discover wisdom. Citrine (embedded in the candle's green half) promotes radiance from within the self and brightens even the darkest corner of one’s perceived reality. The scent is a combination of green leaves, sandalwood, lemon, ginger, and saffron. African palm nuts are used in an Ifa divination and are sacred to Orunmila.

Candle symbology

A candle embodies the five elements: earth, water, air, fire, and spirit. The wick is earth and keeps the flame constant. The wax, which transforms from a solid to a liquid and then to gas, emulates water’s transmutation properties. Oxygen, archetypal of air, is crucial for keeping the flame lit. The flame is a direct connection to fire, the element of transformation, and rebirth. The fifth element, spirit, is within us and manifests when our intention is placed into the candle and infuses it with our soul.
